Department of B. Voc. i n Dairy Products and Processing

Being established in 2018, the Department of B.Voc Dairy has emerged as one of the well-recognised departments affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The department offers a degree of B.Voc in Dairy Products and processing. The course has received overwhelming response from the students since its inception. Presently, the department is headed by Dr M.S.More, the Head and Coordinator of the Department.

Aims
  • To bridge the skill gap by understanding the needs of rural and tribal students of the region.
  • To make students practically prompt, develop managerial skills and create awareness about entrepreneurship among them.
  • The Department now develops entrepreneurship qualities and skills in students at UG level.
Highlights

1. Well-equipped Laboratories

The department has a well-furnished and well-equipped laboratory. Having received UGC Grant for running this course and enriching laboratories, the department has purchased equipment like

  • Khoa making machine
  • Ice-cream making machine
  • paneer press
  • Deep freezer etc.

2. Well-trained teaching faculty

  • All teachers of the department are actively involved in teaching and research in the field of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science.
  • The teachers readily help and guide the students for their overall development.

3. Industrial Training and other activities

Department has successfully organized 04 workshops for farmers & 03 Parents’ Meet under the coordination of Prof.Onkar Shinde.

For the vocational training, the department organizes following activities:

  • Industrial training for a minimum fifteen days for its students
  • Guest lectures on various topics,
  • Minimum two field visits in a year and one study tour.
